The U.S. Forest Service is asking motorists to watch for crews and equipment clearing trees along the Gunflint Trail and side roads near Seagull Lake.
The work is going on now and is projected to last well into March. Trees that were killed during the Ham Lake Fire, in May of 2007, are being removed. Drivers are asked to watch for warning signs and drive slowly in areas where crews are at work. Most of the work will be done during the weekdays, but may also occur on weekends.
This work is part of a grant provided by the National Scenic Byways Program, the Gunflint Trail Scenic Byway Committee and the USDA Forest Service.
