42nd Street

The Duluth Playhouse presents the tap-dancing musical, 42nd Street, through Mother’s Day, May 8th. 
Performances are 7:30 pm, Wednesday through Saturday, and 2 pm, Saturday and Sunday. 
The playhouse is located in Duluth’s Historic Union Depot.

Friday AA Meetings

There are regular AA, Al-Anon, and CoDA meetings in Cook County.
Fridays, at the First Congregational Church in Grand Marais, there is a Big Book Study Group, Open Meeting at 7 am; and "As Bill Sees It" Discussion Group, Open Meeting at 7:30 pm.

Skywarn Training

There will be a Skywarn presentation at the Cook County Communtiy Center on Friday, April 29, from 6 until 8 pm. A Duluth National Weather Service meteorologist will train attendees to spot, prepare for, respond to, and report dangerous weather. Explore the Shore April 30th

Coffee-buying in Guatemala April 30th

The Grand Marais Public Library hosts Joshua Lindstrom, proprietor of Fika Coffee, Saturday, April 30 at 8:30 am, for a presentation about coffee-buying in Guatemala. Josh plans to share his vision of the Fika mission with pictures and stories of various coffee farmers, and how coffee is processed in Guatemala. Fika coffee will be served.
 

Amateur or Ham Radio Communication

There will be an opportunity to learn about Amateur or Ham Radio Communication, Saturday, April 30, 8:30 to 11:30 am at the Cook County Community Center. There will be a Mobile Communications trailer where ham radio enthusiasts will demonstrate radio operations that allow communication around the block or around the world. Amateur radio is also the back-up for public safety communications. Registration is with Jim Wiinanen at 387-3059.

USDA Rural Development Agency

The USDA Rural Development Agency is accepting applications through May from people who want to purchase a home. The loans are available to low-income families and require no down payment. Move It in May

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic sponsors Move It in May. The virtual goal is to travel from Chena (CHEE-nah)Hot Springs, Alaska to Grand Marais. Participants can hike, bike, walk, or paddle, to track miles or minutes of physical activity.
