Two Harbors Kayak Festival

Grand Marais Garden Club’s 83rd Annual Flower Show

The Grand Marais Garden Club’s 83rd Annual Flower Show is Saturday, July 29th from noon to 5 p.m. at the Cook County Community Center. The theme of the show is Floral Fiesta. To participate, bring a floral arrangement (with the flowers identified) between 9 and 11 Saturday morning. 100th anniversary of the construction of the Outlaw Bridge

The Johnson Heritage Post in Grand Marais celebrates the 100th anniversary of the construction of the Outlaw Bridge on Saturday, July 29th at 1 p.m. There will presentations by Thunder Bay Lakehead University professor Beverly Soloway and local history buff Dan Helmerson, followed by an ice cream social. Clearwater Historic Lodge and Canoe Outfitter’s 91st birthday

Getting Acquainted with Local Spiders

Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center hosts Getting Acquainted with Local Spiders, by author and retired teacher, Larry Weber, on July 30th, from 2 to 3 p.m. Attendees will learn more about common spiders and go on a walk to identify some of the local spiders. Volunteers are needed to perform chore services

Care Partners of Cook County sponsors the Senior Chore Program that provides assistance with short-term tasks for those 60 and over. Volunteers are needed to perform these services. There are a variety of inside and outside chores available, and volunteers can select their choices, and be reimbursed for mileage. More information is available at 387-3788.
 

Biggest blueberry contest

Gunflint Trail Lodges

The biggest blueberry contest goes through Saturday, August 12th. Berries will be measured by weight and must be picked fresh. There are three rounds in the contest for the biggest blueberry, with prizes also awarded through random drawings.
