Full Moon Pincushion Mountain Hike and Trail Center Open House

North Superior Ski and Run Club is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Pincushion Mountain skiing and hiking trails in 2019.  Beginning this month, there will be several events leading up to the fall 2019 gala celebration.  On Wednesday,  June 27 there will be a Trail Center Open House at 6:30 p.m., followed by a group hike up Pincushion Mountain at 7:30 p.m.  More information can be found on Facebook, by searching Pincushion Mountain Trails.
 

Cook County School District Summer Meals

Cook County School District will be serving summer food for children 18 and under. Breakfast will be served Monday through Thursday 8:30 am to 9:15 am and Lunches will also be Monday through Thursday from 11:15 to 12:15 at the school cafeteria.

Bird Banding Demonstration

On Thursdays from 7 a.m. to noon, Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center will be presenting on bird banding and monitoring the populations of songbirds that nest and travel through Sugarloaf Cove and adding to the growing research on North Shore birds. The public is invited to stop by to learn more about the banding process and its importance in understanding the lifespan, movement, and productivity of songbirds. The Local Food Market will be every Thursday, beginning June 14 through mid-October, from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Cook County Community Center.  Vendors will be outside in the parking lot if the weather is nice or indoors if the weather is not very nice.  More information at (218)-387-3015

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery meets every Thursday at the Free Church in Grand Marais with a dinner starting at 5:30 and a program at 6:00 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a faith-based program aimed at helping people find healing from addiction and other "hurts and hang-ups."

On Thursdays:
There's a Women's AA meeting, noon at the First Congregational Church in Grand Marais;
There's an AA open meeting and discussion, 6:30 pm in the Lutsen Fire Hall meeting room;
There's an AA meeting, 7 pm in the Grand Portage Lodge, Room 232;
There's an AA Big Book Study Group, 7 pm at the Senior Center in Grand Marais.

Full Moon Reading with Amy Schmidt

MN DNR Loon Survey

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is seeking volunteers to help monitor the loon population in Cook and Lake counties in northeastern Minnesota. Volunteers are needed for one day during the June 29 through July 9 monitoring period. Volunteers can choose one (or more) of the following lakes to count the number of adult and juvenile loons seen and report these observations to the DNR for data analysis, Homer, Bonanza, Cross River Lake, Lake T, and Thunderbird. Artist Talks: Color and form
