The School District 166 Diversity Committee & Cook County Higher Education are hosting an evening event titled “Social Justice Conference: Preparing Parents and the Community to Continue the Conversation.” Conference Keynote Speaker Bill Blackwell, Jr. will speak at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8. Cook County Father Daughter Dance

The annual Cook County Girl Scouts Father Daughter Dance will be held Tuesday, March 13, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Wunderbar in Grand Marais. Dance admission includes music by Plucked Up String Band, light refreshments and a small gift for girls. Bruce Johnson will be available for dad and daughter pictures. Community Storytelling Series

Community members are invited to the ongoing Community Storytelling Series at School District 166.

The storytelling series is facilitated by the Minnesota Educators Association FIRE program. FIRE stands for Fighting Inequities and Racism in Education.

The next gathering will be Friday, March 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the School District 166 cafeteria. The school is at 101 West 5th Street in Grand Marais. 
 

“Free Day” at Grand Marais Family Dentistry

The Oral Health Task Force is sponsoring “Free Day” at Grand Marais Family Dentistry on Monday, April 23rd, for Cook County children and young adults up to 26 years of age, and children who attend Birch Grove Charter School who live in Silver Bay. The “Free Day” includes an exam, cleaning, x-rays, fluoride and/or sealants. Appointments at 387-2274.
 
The Oral Health Task Force Free also offers fluoride well water testing to any home where children reside. This offer includes pre-natal moms, children and young adults up to age 26, day cares, and grandparent’s homes. Details at 387-3631.
 

2018 Lundie Tour

Schroeder Area Historical Society is now taking reservations for the 2018 Lundie Tour.  This year’s tour takes place July 9th, and will visit six architecturally significant home sites along the North Shore.  Reservation can be made online at crossriverheritage.org, with more information at 218-663-7706.
