Ginstrings on Scenic Saturday - 10/3/15

Ginstrings is a 5 piece bluegrass and Americana band out of the Twin Cities. After a performance at the Gunflint Tavern in October, they played a live, hour-long set on a Saturday Scenic Route with Will Moore. They talk about playing festivals, recording their upcoming album, and being indirect victims of First Avenue's sudden roof collapse.

Mary Bue calls in to The Scenic Route

Mary Bue is a singer/songwriter based out of Duluth (among other places). Her latest album "Holy Bones" is a stark departure from her earlier sound and has been been a critical success this year. She speaks to Will Moore by phone and talks about concerts, music videos, and even yoga.

Carrie Vecchione and Rolf Erdahl create unusual harmonies with oboe and bass duo

The Vecchione/Erdahl Duo are seasoned ensemble musicians who push the boundaries of classical music with the performance of  unique, tailor-made compositions for oboe and bass. John Mark Nelson plays "I'm Not Afraid" live on The Scenic Route

John Mark Nelson is an acclaimed 21-year-old singer-songwriter out of the Twin Cities area who has reached new heights with his third album "I'm Not Afraid". He plays acoustic versions of some of the new songs along with Kara Loudon before a performance on Mountain Stage in Grand Marais.

Ladies Music Club full live session on The Scenic Route

The Ladies Music Club is a group of four women from St. Paul playing classic and contemporary folk songs. They stopped by WTIP for a live session on their way up the Gunflint Trail for their first gigs outside the Twin Cities.

Reina del Cid is a singer-songwriter from Fargo, ND and based out of Minneapolis. Along with her group the Cidizens, she crafts songs based in literary influences with clever lyrics. She and guitarist Toni Lindgren join Will Moore for a live session on The Scenic Route, talking about musical inspirations and playing songs from their new album "The Cooling".
