Molly Hoffman became a birder following a 1970 course in Ornithology at the University of Minnesota, Duluth which was part of a degree in Biology.  Molly created Field Notes to bring a realistic birding experience to a radio audience. By using a single recorder to capture bird sounds along with her voice narrative, Field Notes is able to simulate a guided birding adventure in the woods. Field Notes airs every Thursday , Friday and Saturday morning on WTIP. The segment is also available via podcast and by streaming the audio below.

Molly also produced two CD compilations: Bird Sings of the Northern Woods Volumes I and II, to benefit WTIP! Volume II is available for purchase at WTIP as well as various businesses along the North Shore. All proceeds directly benefit the station. To order your CD, simply contact us at Melanie@boreal.org or 218-387-1070 or 800-473-9847.

Arts, cultural and history features on WTIP are made possible in part by funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Check out other programs and features funded in part with support from the Heritage Fund.
