Inuit throat singers continue ancient tradition

The Inuit Premiere is being held this weekend at the Sivertson Gallery and the North House Folk School in Grand Marais. As part of the event, the gallery will host a demonstration and explanation of throat singing with Lydia Etok and Nina Segalowitz at 1 p.m. Lydia and Nina stopped by the WTIP studio to speak with Barbara Jean Johnson about the history of throat singing, how it’s used today, and what it means on a personal level to each of them.
