The EverGreen Grass Band rocks The Roadhouse

Dave TerSteeg and Dick Swanson welcomed Eau Claire-based group the EverGreen Grass Band to Studio A Nov. 21 for fast bluegrass picking and great harmonies. They were in town to play at the Gun Flint Tavern. You can learn more about the band's music and schedule here.

Bluesman Gordon Thorne brings great music and conversation to The Roadhouse

Bob Carter, Dick Swanson & Ann Possis welcomed local bluesman Gordon Thorne for an hour of delightful music and chat during WTIP's "Many Thanks" membership drive. Learn about Gordon's  Fingerstyle Guitar Masters weekend coming in April, and lots more.

The Emory Lester Set brings amazing bluegrass to Studio A

Ann Possis & Will Moore were delighted to welcome the Emory Lester Set (Emory Lester, mandolin; Al Smith, guitar; and Kene Hyatt, bass) to The Roadhouse Oct. 31. They were in town for the 24th annual Bluegrass Masters Weekend at Lutsen Resort. Lester is considered one of the most accomplished mandolin players in the country. Angel Hair Rasta visits The Roadhouse on Halloween

Ann Possis & Will Moore welcomed new local band Angel Hair Rasta to Studio A. They played a Halloween reggae concert at the American Legion in Grand Marais on Halloween night to raise money for the Grand Marais Music Collaborative, a nonprofit organization created to support music in Grand Marais.

Sam Miltich & the Clearwater Hot Club bring gypsy jazz to Studio A

Ann & Dick welcomed Grand Rapids-based  group the Clearwater Hot Club (Sam Miltich, lead guitar; Mike Miller, rhythm guitar; Matthew Miltich, upright bass) to The Roadhouse Oct. 24 for wonderful music and interesting conversation about the origins and current state of the music known as gypsy jazz. Michael Monroe debuts new CD, "Call of the Moose"

The Barley Jacks bring original acoustic sound to Studio A

Dick Swanson & Bob Carter welcomed The Barley Jacks to The Roadhouse Oct. 10 for great music that combines elements  of bluegrass,  blues, Celtic, and more. The Barley Jacks are Brian Wicklund, Joe Cruz, Kevin Rowe, and Joel Arpin. You can learn more about them and their performance schedule here

Briand Morrison launches new original CD, "Spiral"

Dick & Ann chatted with local musician & composer Briand Morrison on the eve of the CD release party for "Spiral." Briand partnered with the North Shore Music Assosication, with funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board, to write 12 original blues, rock and jazz pieces for guitar with backing instruments and vocals. The CD includes performances of 17 local musicians, and several songs are sampled in this interview. You can learn more about Briand's music here.

The Pines bring unique indie-roots sound to The Roadhouse
