The Thunderheads rock Studio A

Twin Cities-based band The Thunderheads (Steve Blexrud, Craig Paquette, & Don Blue) visited The Roadhouse Feb. 27 before their appearance at the Tavern. Listen for fun conversation and great music. You can learn more about the band here.

Teague Alexy & Marc Gartman make great music in Studio A

Teague Alexy & Marc Gartman were in town to play the Gun Flint Tavern and stopped by The Roadhouse Feb. 13. Listen for great tunes and fun conversation, including info on more upcoming appearances on the north shore.

Eric Frost & Bill Hansen stop by The Roadhouse

Local musicians Eric Frost & Bill Hansen visited Studio A Feb. 6 to play both covers and originals (Eric on guitar, Bill on dobro) and chat with Buck and Dick. Conversation ran the gamut from the recent TV taping at Papa Charlie's to falling through lake ice.

Jim & Michele Miller, a husband-wife duo from Hovland, play beautiful music together. They stopped by The Roadhouse Jan. 2 on their way to a gig in Tofte.

Gordon Thorne offers fingerstyle guitar workshops through March

Local bluesman Gordon Thorne stopped by Studio A Jan. 9 to talk about the guitar workshops he's offering at Moondance Coffeehouse in Lutsen, Tuesdays through March from 5 to 7 p.m. All are invited to learn to play or just enjoy the music. And mark your calendar for this year's fingerstyle masters weekend, April 11 and 12. Of course Gordon played a few tunes, too.

Black River Revue rocks The Roadhouse

Dick Swanson & Bob Carter welcomed all six members of the Black River Revue, a Duluth/Superior-based band, into Studio A Dec. 5. It was a crowded fun time featuring high-energy music mixing bluegrass instrumentation and their own unique sound. You can learn more about Black River Revue and their performance schedule here.

Musical favorite Michael Monroe stops in for great conversation & sound

EverGreen Grass Band

The EverGreen Grass Band rocks The Roadhouse

Dave TerSteeg and Dick Swanson welcomed Eau Claire-based group the EverGreen Grass Band to Studio A Nov. 21 for fast bluegrass picking and great harmonies. They were in town to play at the Gun Flint Tavern. You can learn more about the band's music and schedule here.

Bob Carter, Dick Swanson & Ann Possis welcomed local bluesman Gordon Thorne for an hour of delightful music and chat during WTIP's "Many Thanks" membership drive. Learn about Gordon's  Fingerstyle Guitar Masters weekend coming in April, and lots more.

The Emory Lester Set brings amazing bluegrass to Studio A

Ann Possis & Will Moore were delighted to welcome the Emory Lester Set (Emory Lester, mandolin; Al Smith, guitar; and Kene Hyatt, bass) to The Roadhouse Oct. 31. They were in town for the 24th annual Bluegrass Masters Weekend at Lutsen Resort. Lester is considered one of the most accomplished mandolin players in the country.
