The Cook County Community YMCA, adjacent to the school complex at 105 W 5th Street in Grand Marais, offers a variety of classes and activities.
EFCE open gym: Open gym is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 11 am. Families are invited to play with equipment that builds motor skills and social skills.
After School All-Stars: The Y will welcome all kids from kindergarten through 5th grade to the After School All-Stars program on Mondays through Thursdays, from 3:30 to 6 pm. Monday is cooking and kitchen day; Tuesday is swim day, Wednesday is arts, crafts, and community service day; and on Thursday active activities will be offered.
Friday Madness: On Fridays when school is not in session, the Y offers "Friday Madness" from 8 to 4 pm, for ages 4+. Preregistration is required, and space is limited.
Bone Builders introductory session, Wednesday, January 28, from 2 to 3 pm at the Fitness Studio. The Bone Builders exercise program is designed to help individuals maintain bone mass, build on existing bone mass, and improve balance, all to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Pre-registration is recommended.
Free family day: Saturday, February 7, from 1-5 pm. Activities include open gymnastics, open gym time with age-appropriate toys, game room, open kids' club, and swimming.
Winter camp-in: Overnight February 7-8, 6 pm-8 am. Families are invited to pitch a tent in the gym and enjoy numerous family-friendly activities, including a movie in the pool and "campfire" complete with s’mores, songs, and skits. Families can spend the night or just come for the activities. Cost is reduced for Y members.

"Optimizing Your Recovery," free presentation by Loren Stoner, February 18, 5 pm, in the Conference Room.
Stand-up paddle boarding: learning the basics, with Jack Stone, March 4, 5 pm, in the pool.
Kayaking skills, with Jack Stone, April 8, 5 pm, in the pool.
Ham Run Half Marathon: Early bird registration is now open for the Ham Run Half Marathon, 5K, and Little Runts Run, on May 2. Proceeds go towards program scholarships to make sure nobody is turned away from the Y for the inability to pay. Register and race sponsorships are available from the Y.
