Gary grew up on the southwest side of Chicago. He graduated with a B.S. in Geology from Western Illinois University and was promptly exiled to the oilfields of North Texas and Oklahoma. His favorite recollection from that period is a bumper stick which read – “Please don’t tell my mother I work in the oilfield. She still thinks I play piano in a whorehouse.”

Jay Andersen joined WTIP as a news reporter in June of 2008. He has a long background in news gathering, having previously been editor at two community newspapers. Joe joined WTIP in October of 2015. He holds a degree in journalism from the University of Montana, where he graduated in 2005. He has previously worked along the North Shore as a freelance journalist and up the Gunflint Trail as a canoe outfitter. Joe covers the local happenings along the North Shore for WTIP. Martha started as a volunteer at WTIP in 2013 as the creator and producer of Lake County Journal, and occasional host for Tuesday Classics. She is now a producer at WTIP. Martha's interests include playing and listening to many genres of music, spending time with her dog, Polka Dot, and enjoying the culture and geography of the North Shore.

Veronica has volunteered with WTIP since 2007. She served as a super enthusiastic captain of the 'WTIP Tippers' dragonboat team for the 2009, '10, '11 and '12 North Shore Dragonboat Festivals. Veronica was hired on at WTIP in News and Public Affairs in March of 2013.
