Five Cook County students inducted into National Honor Society
Five students from Cook County High School were inducted as new members of the National Honor Society in a ceremony at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts on November 13th.
The chapter’s faculty council selected National Honor Society members for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Inducted students were Kyla Knapper, Jordan Backstrom, Grace Blomberg, Knut Remmem, and Lexi Surbaugh. These five students join seven other students as members of the Shingobee chapter of the National Honor Society. Current chapter officers are Kalina Dimitrova, President; Raymond Dressley, Vice President; Wren Ferry, Secretary; and Amery Oberg, Treasurer.
“We are very proud to recognize these outstanding members of our student body. National Honor Society members are chosen for and expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community,” said Chad Benesh, chapter adviser.
The Cook County High School chapter has been active since 1921. The chapter sponsors several service projects for the school and community each year, including assisting with the Early Childhood Winter Carnival and Empty Bowls.
The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. There are chapters in more than 16,000 high schools, and since 1921, millions of students have been selected for membership. Millions of dollars in scholarships have been awarded to senior members since 1945 by the sponsoring organization, the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
