DNR boat launch in Grand Marais will be open for Labor Day weekend

WTIP received information from staff at the Grand Marais Recreation Area that the new boat launch in the harbor will be opening today.

The two-year project is nearing its completion, but the boat ramp will open today, according to Grand Marais city officials.

This is year two of a two-year project, focusing on the break wall in the harbor and the boat launch. In addition to the boat ramp, there are upgrades and changes to the parking area. Other changes include a new break wall that was completed in 2021.

Today’s news, however, is mostly about the new boat ramp and the fact it will be open for Labor Day weekend in the Grand Marais harbor.

WTIP will be speaking with staff from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and officials involved with the project in the days ahead, including this week’s episode of the WTIP Outdoor News Podcast that will be released Friday, Sept. 2.
