Grand Marais hospital plans to start vaccinating next week for COVID-19
WTIP reached out to North Shore Health Hospital Administrator Kimber Wraalstad to find out the timeline for vaccines arriving to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth and then ultimately to the Grand Marais hospital.
In a statement sent to WTIP Dec. 16, Wraalstad said that North Shore Health officials haven’t heard if St. Luke’s received their vaccine yet. Regardless, the plan for the local hospital in Grand Marais is to begin vaccinating Tuesday, Dec. 22.
“If we hear we can go get the vaccine today, that might change,” Wraalstad said, “but we want to be careful with the timing. With COVID, we need to be able to pivot on a dime.”
According to Gov. Tim Walz, healthcare workers and residents of long-term care facilities will be the state’s first residents to receive a vaccination.
