Arrowhead Transit welcomes return of North Shore bus route

The news of the return of Arrowhead Transit’s North Shore bus service has brought much excitement to residents and seasonal staff in Cook County. 

“This is obviously one of the most highly requested runs to be returned service post-COVID,” Dominick Olivanti, the marketing and public relations coordinator with Arrowhead Transit, said. “We’re really excited to be bringing and providing this service back.”

Starting July 11, Arrowhead Transit will offer residents and visitors a ride from Grand Marais to Duluth, with stops in Silver Bay and Two Harbors included. The service will run every Tuesday with an 8 a.m. departure time from Grand Marais. 

The Arrowhead Transit service is as follows:

Departure Times:

  • 8:00 am: Depart from Grand Marais
  • 9:00 a.m.: Depart from Silver Bay
  • 9:45 a.m.: Depart from Two Harbors

Arrival Time:

  • 10:15 a.m.: Arrive at Medical Facilities in Duluth

Return Departure Times:

  • 3:35 p.m.: Depart from Duluth
  • 4:05 p.m.: Depart from Two Harbors
  • 4:50 p.m.: Depart from Silver Bay

Return Arrival Time:

  • 5:50 p.m.: Arrive back in Grand Marais

Reservations are required for the bus service and must be made before noon the Monday before the desired travel date. Reservations can be made by contacting Arrowhead Transit at 1-800-862-0175 or visiting the website.

Olivanti said the Arrowhead Transit bus has luggage compartments and can accommodate wheelchairs. In addition, children under the age of 12 are allowed on the bus with an adult. “We can pretty much accommodate anything.” 

“We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from a lot of our patrons or past patrons,” Olivanti said. “The community outpouring of appreciation has been awesome.”
