CCHS communications class students reflect on prom, softball season, and senior year

In the final weeks of the school year, students in Michael McHugh’s communications class at Cook County High School have reflected on the various sports and activities they enjoyed. Below are a collection of interviews conducted by students about prom, the softball season, senior year, and more.

Prom

On Saturday, May 11, the school hosted the Grand March, where seniors Raymond Dressely and Amery Oberg were crowned prom king and queen.

Communications-News students Amber Theiner and Alexis Plummer interviewed the prom royals about the crowning ceremony and their advice about prom. Audio below.

 

Below is an interview by CCHS sophomore Cole Martinson. He interviewed his brother Lucas Martinson, a 2022 CCHS graduate about his experience at prom in 2022. Audio below.

 

Cook County sophomore Adalin Roberts recently discovered that most high schools reserve the tradition for prom for only juniors and seniors. To find out more about the senior prom experience, she interviewed her mother Kate Keeble, a graduate from Amery, WI and current owner of Hungry Hippie Farm & Hostel in Grand Marais. Audio below.

 

Senior Year

With graduation just around the corner, Cook County Communications-News sophomore Emma Crook wanted to know more about how seniors were feeling about finishing high school. Congratulations and good luck to seniors Kyla Gellagos, Amery Oberg, and Kamryn Johnson. Audio below.

 

Softball & Triple Jump

On Thursday, May 23, the Cook County High School Track team competed at subsections at Mesabi East High School. Communications-News Students Maya Rodriquez, Sophia Sheehan, and Aaliyah Jones interviewed Triple Jump Winner Kaleb Berka about his record-setting jump. Audio below.

 

The Cook County High School Varsity Softball team recently concluded its season with a playoff loss to the Cherry Tigers. Below is Communications-News student Grete Youngdahl with a commentary about this year’s young and improving team.
