Everything you need to know about the Grand Marais Arts Festival
Each year the Grand Marais Art Colony hosts an Arts Festival event in downtown Grand Marais. Art Colony Artistic Director Ruth Pszwaro spoke with WTIP about the upcoming event.
On Jul. 13 and 14 Wisconsin St will be lined with booths from 60 artists. Pszwaro said that the artists had to apply for a spot and were chosen by a blind panel. She said that about 150 artists applied for the 60 spots, and about a quarter of the selected artists are based in Cook County. The event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, will also feature performances by several local musicians, as well.
Pszwaro anticipates that it will be a great event, saying, “It’s one of the best events that, I mean anywhere, that I feel like I’ve been a part of, and I love the work the quality of the work.”
WTIP will air a live broadcast from the Arts Festival on Saturday morning, Jul. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon. CJ Heithoff and Rhonda Silence will speak to some of the artists and cover the awarding of the Best in Show and Best Booth awards.
