North Shore Rivers Slowly Unlocking in 2022

Swells of media reports in the middle of April 2022 flooded Minnesota following what some described as “epic” waterfalls on the North Shore of Lake Superior in April 2022.

While indeed the significant snowpack this year will lead to spectacular water flows this spring, many of the rivers in Cook County are still holding ice as May quickly approaches.

Perhaps more importantly, the trails along the rivers are covered in snowpack and ice. In this video produced by Matthew Baxley, the WTIP News Department learns more about the current conditions of the trails and waterfalls along the North Shore.
