Young Female Wolf Rescued and Collared in Grand Portage

This young female wolf was caught in a neck snare and released by a trapper on Feb. 18. During the release, the wolf escaped with the cable of a catch pole still around its neck and became snagged on vegetation several miles away. The wolf was rescued on Feb. 20 by wildlife biologists from the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Biology and Environmental Services.
