Cook County High School students reflect on spring break trip to Spain
Over spring break, 12 Cook County High School students and two teachers traveled to Spain as part of the ISD 166 International Travel Club.
The students spent time traveling across the country, visiting Madrid, Cordoba, Sevilla, and Barcelona between March 21 and March 30.
“Traveling outside of the country is a way of learning about the world and interacting with people that is just impossible to replicate in the classroom,” said Erin Petz Giguere, who is the Spanish teacher at ISD 166 and traveled with the students to Spain.
Every day of their trip, students learned about the culture, visited educational sites, and spoke in Spanish.
The audio below features two teachers and chaperones, Erin Petz Giguere and Michael Zimmerman, along with four of the 12 students who participated in the trip: Rafe Williams, Iris Works, Bea Mueller, and Sophia Christianson. The teachers and students reflect on their trip and share highlights.
The ISD 166 International Travel Club is planning a spring break trip to Costa Rica in 2028. The school is hosting an informational meeting on Wednesday, April 15, at 5:30 p.m., in the Cook County High School library, to gauge student and parent interest.
