Cook County students participate in Northshore Inline Marathon in Duluth

Story by WTIP Youth Volunteer Ezme Mundell

The Northshore Inline Marathon event took place in Duluth, Minnesota on September 14. Cook County residents Ezme Mundell and Arlo Litterst participated in the Rollerski half marathon together. The race followed the scenic highway and entered Duluth on the freeway. All the roads were closed off so the race could happen. Toward the end of the race, participants skied through the freeway tunnels and ended near the DECC.

I enjoyed this race and would do it again! I roller ski to train for the upcoming Nordic ski season and this race was a great way to show off some of the hard work and training hours we put in. The weather was beautiful and it was such a cool experience to ski on the highways. I did the race in 1 hour and 17 minutes. I got 2nd overall for women and 1st in the under-15 age group. My friend, Arlo, raced it in 1 hour 15 minutes.  I was proud of both of us and it was an overall amazing day!
