Driver crashes into hotel room at Aspen Inn

It will be a vacation worth remembering.

On Sunday, Oct. 6, two Aspen Inn hotel guests received an unexpected morning visit when a white BMW X3 crashed through their hotel room. The incident took place at approximately 8 a.m. Staff at the Aspen Inn told WTIP that two guests were in the room when the accident occurred. One guest was taking a shower while the other was still in bed.

The woman driver, an Aspen Inn guest, had checked out of the hotel earlier that morning and was preparing to return to Minneapolis to catch a flight at Minneapolis-St. Paul airport. The driver told Aspen Inn staff that she thought she had put the vehicle in reverse when, instead, she had put it in drive and hit the gas.

Aspen Inn staff said the vehicle crashed through the window and damaged the sink, but no damage was sustained to the structural components of the building. The second floor did not receive any damage. Construction crews worked on Monday to begin repairs of the interior and exterior damage. The repairs should take approximately two weeks, according to Aspen Inn staff.

Despite a vehicle crashing through the window, the driver and the hotel guests were uninjured.

After handing over insurance and contact information, the driver departed for the Twin Cities in time to catch her flight.
