Highway Department monitoring flooding and washout at Caspers Hill Rd
With today’s heavy rain, there are numerous reports of washed-out roads in Cook County, primarily east of Grand Marais.
The Cook County Highway Department is monitoring flooding and washout conditions on County Rd 60, CR 58/Lindskog Rd, and CR 68/Caspers Hill Rd.
“Portions of Caspers Hill Rd have eroded away and may be impassable at this time,” Cook County Highway Engineer Robbie Hass said. At the corner of Caspers Hill Rd and County Road 14, the highway department has placed signs warning Caspers Hill Rd residents that the road is underwater.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., a motorist was able to pass through the washout section to their residence farther up the road.
Hass said the highway department crews will continue to monitor road conditions on Caspers Hill Rd and other county roads over the weekend.
