updated Dec. 16 11:00 a.m.

Bryce Campbell, the former owner of Lutsen Resort who faces arson charges related to the February 2024 fire that destroyed the historic lodge, has been granted conditional bail.

As of Dec. 16 he was not listed on the jail rosters for Cook or Lake Counties.

According to court documents, a bail hearing was held on Dec. 15 to determine the conditions of his release. He was granted a $100,000 bail, and must adhere to conditions including:

  • Obey all city, state, and federal laws and ordinances.
  • Report to a probation officer
  • submit to warrantless searches of person or property
  • do not possess firearms
  • cannot leave the state of Minnesota without permission from probation officer and prior approval from the court

Court records show that the court also offered a no-conditions bail option of $500,000.

Campbell’s next hearing is set for March 9 in Cook County. It is scheduled as an omnibus hearing, which determines what evidence is admissible during a trial if a defendant pleads not guilty. Thus far, Campbell’s court records do not show that he has entered a plea.
