City hosts groundbreaking ceremony for new city hall/liquor store on April 12

The city of Grand Marais is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, April 12, to celebrate the city hall and liquor store redevelopment project.

Demolition of the existing building is expected to begin in the coming weeks to make way for the construction of a new building. Construction crews and equipment arrived on the scene last week.

Before the redevelopment project commences, the City of Grand Marais invites the public to a groundbreaking ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the city hall/liquor store. Following the ceremony, city officials and the public will walk to the Beaver House to tour the temporary liquor store location.

During the ceremony, snacks will be provided by Superior Creamery.

“The redevelopment of our City Hall Liquor Store is a significant milestone in our community, and we are excited to share this moment with you,” the City of Grand Marais said in an invitation announcement.
