Community invited to 2024 Light Up a Life remembrance ceremony
Care Partners of Cook County’s annual Light Up a Life ceremony offers community members the opportunity to remember the life of a loved one during the holiday season.
“It’s a remembrance for folks that we’ve lost,” Julie Wilson, executive director of Care Partners of Cook County, said. “And some people, it’s losses in this current year. Other’s, it’s, you know, many years past.”
The annual event will occur on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 p.m. at the Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery. Mary Ellen Ashcroft will share a short reflection, and Erik Hahn will provide special music.
A tree lighting will follow the remembrance ceremony.
“It’s just a beautiful time to light a candle and remember,“ Wilson said. “The biggest part of it is people lighting candles and sharing names and remembrances of loved ones.”
