Empty Bowls Lake Superior chowder event set for June 17 during Wooden Boat Show
Summer events are in full swing in Grand Marais.
The annual North House Folk School’s Wooden Boat Show kicks off this weekend, Friday, June 16, at noon with wooden boats on display, family drop-in craft activities, and various demonstrations from traditional craft artisans, including quilting, rope making, woodcarving, penny rugs, and blacksmithing.
The festivities continue throughout the weekend with speaker events, live music, a BBQ from the Grand Marais Lions Club, and the 23rd annual Lake Superior Chowder Experience hosted by Empty Bowls, a non-profit organization fighting hunger in our community.
The Lake Superior Chowder Experience will feature 13 North Shore restaurants’ culinary tastes, including smoked salmon, garden vegetables, classic clam, and poblano potatoes. In addition, the North House Folk School will make the bread for the event.
The Empty Bowls Lake Superior Chowder Experience is from noon – 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17.
