North House Folk School hosts arctic explorer Lonnie Dupre on Friday, April 4 at 6:30 pm for a presentation about his past and future Greenland expeditions, and on the rapid effects of climate change on Greenland’s ice. The event is part of North House’s First Friday series, starting with Dinner on a stick at 5:30 pm. More information is available at northhouse.org.
An artist reception for North Shore photographer Hayes Scriven will be held on Friday, April 4 at the Tettgouche Visitor Center. Hayes will speak about his photography and be available for questions and discussion from 7 to 8:30 pm. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Tettegouche.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church is sponsoring a “free laundry day” at Squig’s Laundromat on Saturday, April 5th, from 9 am to 2 pm. Families and individuals are welcome (no businesses please). Bethlehem will provide quarters for the machines and laundry detergent. There will be coffee, morning donuts, and lunchtime sandwiches.
The Grand Marais Public Library is hosting Carving Your Clan, an art and culture program with Minnesota artist and Ojibwe education Jeffrey Tibbetts. This workshop will be held on Friday, April 4, from 10 AM – 1 PM. This program is meant for those ages 10 and up. Adult supervision will be required for younger attendees as sharp objects will be used to carve.

The Cook County Winter Market with local artists and artisans will be held on Saturday, April 5 from 10 am to 4 pm at The Hub.
