Youth cast shares excitement for upcoming Finding Nemo play premiere
Story by WTIP Youth Volunteer Ezme Mundell
“Just keep swimming, just keep swimming,” is what Dory from Finding Nemo would say when a challenge arises.
And nearly 20 kids ranging from 8 to 18 years old are rising to the rehearsal challenge to put on the musical Finding Nemo!
During the two weeks of rehearsal camp, the kids did the choreography, prop making, singing, and practiced lines like crazy.
I asked a couple of the kids performing in the play what it was like to prepare for the show. Beatrice, who is playing Nemo says: “You have to make costumes and have your lines ready to go.”
Adalyn as narrator Pelican says: “We focus on remembering our lines and what to do when the show comes.” Then I asked what was their favorite part is: Beatrice says: “Practice our lines and everybody getting better every day!”
Adalyn says: “All of it, going through the play and getting to listen and sing the songs.”
The talented actors are ready to perform on opening night, Saturday, June 22 at the Grand Marais Arrowhead Center for the Arts at 1 p.m. Then they have one more show on Sunday, June 23 at the same place and time.
Hope to see you there!
