GES students stop by WTIP to talk about Community Fun Run on October 12

Three Great Expectations School students, Quinn, Esa, and Grace, visited WTIP on Oct. 9 to share news about the upcoming Community Fun Run taking place on Oct. 12 at Cutface Creek.

The 2nd annual Community Fun Run will begin at 10 a.m. with check-in and refreshments for participants. Then at 10:30 a.m. the 5k and 1-mile fun run will start. Participants are welcome to choose a distance to walk or run, the students said.

“You don’t have to run. You can walk, run, or even use a scooter,” said Esa.

Grace said her favorite thing about the upcoming fun run event is that participants are encouraged to wear costumes. She said she plans to be a cheetah for the event.

While the fun run is a way to get outdoors and be active on a fall morning, the students said the intent of the fun run is to build connection in the community and raise funds for a school playground.

After the participants complete the fun run, there will be hot dogs, baked goods, and activities held at the Cutface Creek Wayside Rest.

WTIP’s Kalli Hawkins spoke with Quinn, Esa, and Grace about the upcoming Oct. 12 Community Fun Run event. The audio from the interview is below.
