New City Hall/Liquor Store building starting to take form
As Labor Day Weekend approaches, the new Grand Marais City Hall and Liquor Store is officially starting to take form.
“All of the structural columns and beams have been installed,” John Haggenmiller, the McGough Construction Field Superintendent, said. “We started installing bar joists and metal decking towards the end of last week and will finish those off this week.”
During the Aug. 28 city council meeting, Haggenmiller provided a construction update to the city council. He said construction crews are also working to install a subdrainage system in the parking lot area.
Then, starting Sept. 9, crews will begin framing the exterior walls and prep work for the parking lot underground electric.
Following Haggenmiller’s update, the council discussed marketing plans for the new liquor store, including a new website, logo, and merchandise. The council will work with Sweetwater Design Co. to meet its marketing needs.
