WTIP Wins First Place in Four Categories at the 2022 Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association Awards
North Shore Community Radio stories were awarded First Place in four categories, and two Awards of Merit at the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association ceremony held in Minneapolis in 2023. The stories and features honored were:
- First Place – Investigative Reporting “WTIP and MN Dept of Health investigation finds no evidence for brain cancer cluster in Cook County,” produced by Joe Friedrichs
- First Place – Series “It Happens Here: The Roots of Racial Inequity on the North Shore,” produced by Staci Drouillard and co-hosted by Leah Lemm
- First Place – Soft Feature “Powering Down: The Silence Family in a Sea of Green,” produced by Will Moore
- First Place – Broadcast Writing “Notes from Reservation River: The Best Dog in the World,” written by Jess Koski and produced by Staci Drouillard
- Award of Merit – Soft Feature “Steger’s Ice Ball sparks stories and celebration on the edge of the BWCA,” produced by Barbara Jean Meyers
- Award of Merit – Soft Feature “Beyond the Canoe: Superior Swimmers,” produced by M Baxley
