This program officially starts the weekend along the North Shore and across the North Woods. Hosts Buck Benson & Dick Swanson and producer Ann Possis provide two hours packed with insightful interviews,  weekend happenings, local features and toe-tapping music. You never know quite what to expect on the Roadhouse!

Bob chatted recently with Pam Taylor, coach of the Cook County High School volleyball team, about the coming season. They won their first match of the year. It's going to be a good one!

DNR wildlife veterinarian Erika Butler on possible new health threat to moose

Erika Butler, wildlife veterinarian with the MN DNR, talked with Buck Aug. 24 about a health threat to moose: eastern equine encephalitis virus, which is carried by mosquitoes. She explained what it is  and how the DNR is working to learn more about this possible factor in moose mortality.

Author & humorist Michael Perry on his brand-new book,"Visiting Tom"

Bob chatted Aug. 24 with Michael Perry, Wisconsin author and humorist, about his latest book, "Visiting Tom." In it, Perry shares stories and lessons from his friendship with Tom Hartwig, a quirky 82-year-old with, among other things, a love for old artillery.

Musicians Thea Ennen & Dave Peterson make WTIP debut

Buck and Bob welcomed River Falls musicians Thea Ennen and Dave Peterson to The Roadhouse Aug. 17. Thea was a finalist in the Big Top Chatauqua National Songwriter's Contest, and received a MN Music award for Best Folk Album. Dave is an accomplished bluegrass and jazz guitarist, winner of several first place awards in MN State flatpicking contests, and has appeared on A Prairie Home Companion.

It's a car! It's a plane! No, wait....it's both! Greg Herrick talks quirky, vintage airplanes

Buck spoke Aug. 17 with Greg Herrick, president of the Aviation Foundation of America, and proud owner of a rare 1954 Aerocar (yes, a car with wings), which can be yours for only $1.25 million. You can see more cool old airplanes at his museum website.

Kayaking from Northwest Angle to Key West...4,000 miles of lakes, rivers and ocean

Daniel Alvarez chatted with Bob Aug. 17 by phone from his kayak on the Big Lake near Two Harbors. Daniel is paddling from Northwest Angle to Key West, via the St. Louis and Mississippi rivers. You can follow his adventure here.
