This program officially starts the weekend along the North Shore and across the North Woods. Hosts Buck Benson & Dick Swanson and producer Ann Possis provide two hours packed with insightful interviews,  weekend happenings, local features and toe-tapping music. You never know quite what to expect on the Roadhouse!

Buck Benson and Karen Blackburn welcomed roots/folk duo Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank (Ian Alexy and Teague Alexy) for some great guitar and harmonica stylings.

Garden Fresh Farms grows herbs, lettuce, rainbow trout and more...inside a suburban St. Paul warehouse

Buck chatted June 8 with Dave Roeser, owner of Garden Fresh Farms, about this innovative farm that uses aquaponics in an urban warehouse setting to produce food in a sustainable manner year-round. Dave and his wife D.J. started the farm in 2010, which was named Ramsey County Family Farm of the Year for 2012.

Two Many Banjos plays Studio A once more before going on hiatus

Bob and Buck hosted Duluth folk/bluegrass band Two Many Banjos in studio June 1. It was one of their last appearances before they go on hiatus later this month.

Bob chatted June 1 with Adam Harju, race director for the Lutsen 99er, about the bike race scheduled for June 23, co-sponsored by the Cook County Visitors Bureau and Lifetime Fitness. There's also a 39-mile version.

Buck and Bob welcomed back The Thunderheads (Steve Blexrud, Craig Paquette and Don Blue) May 25 for rock/blues tunes and lots of laughter.

Dictionary of American Regional English? As we say in these parts...uff da!

Bob spoke May 25 with Dr. Joan Houston Hall, chief editor of the Dictionary of American Regional English, about the completion of the final volume of text (slab-zydeco), the upcoming electronic edition, and how people in different walks of life can use this unique resource. Check out their great websites at www.dare.wisc.edu and http://dare.news.wisc.edu/ for audio clips,  words unique to Minnesota and any number of other regions, and lots more cool stuff.

Titambe Dance Ensemble brings West African drum rhythms to Studio A

Buck and Bob hosted four members of the Titambe Dance Ensemble May 18 for chat and music. Director Christian Adeti and his group drummed and danced at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts in Grand Marais the next evening.
