THANK YOU for believing in the power of truly local radio!
Because of you, WTIP Community Radio can report tremendous community support. In addition to all of our wonderful listener-members who helped us reach our goal, we have many other people to thank.
1) Our wonderful volunteers (both on-air and behind-the-scenes). Our volunteers make local radio happen. To be on the air, you have to be on your toes and you have to be open to sharing your time and talents with our community of listener members. Our hosts have a lot of courage, so to everyone who hosted programs or jumped in to co-host—thank you!
2) Our behind-the-scenes volunteers offered their time up this week to provide the EXTRA help we needed by answering phones, preparing and serving the community lunch, and generally keeping the station running smoothly during the drive.
3) To all of the musicians who performed live, we salute you! Musical acts who shared their time and talents are: Emma Tweten, Gordon Thorne, AbbyZak, Bump Blomberg & Lynden Graham, the Pete K Group, and DJ Mouwthe!
4) To all of our WTIP STAFF, who believe that creating and listening to community radio is a quest for connection, we thank you for your commitment: Sterling Anderson, Matthew Brown, Staci Drouillard, Kalli Hawkins, CJ Heitoff, Tom Knutson, Will Moore, Chuck Olsen, Cory Quirk, Veronica Weadock, and Kirsten Wisniewski.
5) And…a special thanks to Will Moore, our music director, and Tom Knutson, our sound engineer, who made the live music sound great.
6) We also want to thank the WTIP founding members who had the vision and foresight to bring local radio to Cook County. Their voices have been there from the very beginning and we honor you, as we strive to keep independent radio going strong.
Thanks also to the listeners and business underwriters who provided support for our member lunches, including sponsoring the music tent, food, and presence broadcasting live from the Grand Marais Art Colony: North Shore Federal Credit Union, Arrowhead Cooperative, Johnson’s Foods, Superior Creamery, and Drury Lane Books.
And thank you to Wild Country Syrup in Lutsen and the Gunflint Trail Fire Department who provided gifts to use during the drive.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for listening to and relying on WTIP. Your support allows us to continue to create important, engaging, and entertaining programming for residents of and visitors to Cook County.
As always, you can pledge your support online here or call us at 218-387-1070 or 800-473-9847.
