Shook Smoothies owner Jordan Plummer expands business to a food truck
Only a few months into opening Shook Smoothies, owner Jordan Plummer is excited to be expanding her business.
After moving to Grand Marais in May of 2021, Plummer decided to start a smoothie business and began renting the community kitchen at the Cook County Community Center.
She said that after talking to people around town, “they were very excited about having something like that available.” She added, “So it was a great opportunity to serve the community and give back to a place that has given so much to me.”
Shook Smoothies offers various nutritious smoothies, smoothie bowls, protein shakes, and artisan drinks. Plummer said the business has taken off, and she already has established regulars. ” I have people that come in practically every day.” With so much positive feedback and community support, Plummer decided it was time to expand her business. So last week, Plummer bought a food truck and will be transitioning her business from the community center to mobile food truck.
Plummer said as soon as she gets her food truck license in order, she will be stationed behind Harbor Inn along Highway 61. In the meantime, Shook Smoothies will continue to operate and offer curbside delivery out of the community center.
“The community has been incredibly supportive and equally as excited as me, so that was such a bonus,” she said, “I had no idea three months ago, whenever I started, what it would turn into.”
Plummer said she plans to offer hot food and healthy energy bites down the road. “My heart is really in serving, and I love to create tasty, nutritious food that not just brings you joy through your palate but also nourishes your body.”
