GES kindergarten class paint the sky in January
The month of January was undoubtedly a gloomy month along the North Shore. And the kindergarten class at Great Expectations School has the proof to show it.
For the past six years, Anne Mundell, the kindergarten teacher at GES, has tasked her students to paint the color of the sky in January. Each day Mundell selected a student to look at the sky, mix paint until it matched, and then paint a line on a canvas board. Mundell said the ‘Color the Sky’ project is a way for students to hone their observational skills while blending science and art.
The kindergarten students that participated in the ‘Color the Sky’ project were: Daisy, Sylvia, Karsten, Leora, Elliot, Anders, Rowan, Calyx, and Logan. Many students noticed there were far more gray days than blue days in January.
WTIP’s Kalli Hawkins visited the GES kindergarten class to view the ‘Color the Sky’ project and talk to the students. Audio below.
