Hunger Hero Golf Scramble seeking golf participants for June 13th event
The Hunger Hero Golf Scramble, hosted by The North Shore Federal Credit Union since 2016, is coming to Cook County for the first time this summer.
The program began as a way for credit union members to make a one-time or monthly donation to help fight food insecurity in many North Shore communities. Since the program’s founding, The North Shore Federal Credit Union has collectively raised over $270,000 to donate to local food shelves.
In 2020, the program expanded to a Hunger Hero Golf event in Silver Bay. “The event has been very successful for the past few years in Silver Bay,” Cassie Ernest, the president of The North Shore Federal Credit Union, said. “We’re excited to expand it into Cook County at the Gunflint Hills Golf Course this year.”
The event will be held on Tuesday, June 13. It includes a 9-hole, 4-person scramble, with check-in starting at 4:30 p.m. and a 5 p.m. start, followed by a meal and awards. The scramble costs $30 for Gunflint Hills members and $50 non-Gunflint Hills members. A cart is included in the price for both members and non-members.
Ernest said there is plenty of room for teams or individuals to sign up for the fun event. To learn more or register, call Gunflint Hills Golf Course at 218-387-9988.
