Structure fire destroys house on Devil Track Rd

At approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 1 a report of a house on fire at 230 Devil Track Rd was placed to dispatch at the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. It was reported the house was fully engulfed during the initial call. Despite efforts from responding Maple Hill and Grand Marais fire departments, the home was a total loss.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Cook County Sheriff’s Office contacted the property owner, Kathleen Wallace of Woodbury, Minn. along with surrounding property owners. The neighbors reported no suspicious activity.

Cook County Sheriff’s Office left the scene at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 2.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
