Split Rock Lighthouse celebrating 113th anniversary with festive event on July 28
On Friday, July 28, Split Rock Lighthouse will celebrate its 113th birthday with a festive “Keeper’s View” anniversary event.
The event starts at 6 p.m. and includes food, storytelling, and the beacon lighting of the famous lighthouse. In addition, there will be a 30-minute guided tour around the facility to highlight the construction of the Split Rock Lighthouse.
For the past three years, Split Rock has hosted an event to celebrate the anniversary. “This year, we’re doing it a little bit differently,” said Hayes Scriven, the Split Rock Lighthouse site manager. “We’re changing up the tour. So it’s not your typical one during the day.”
Scriven said the evening tour will focus on the construction of the lighthouse through the lens of an engineer and architect. “It’s quite an interesting story,” he added.
Tours will commence at 6:30 p.m., with the lighting of the beacon at 9 p.m. The anniversary event will wrap up around 10 p.m.
Scriven encourages individuals interested in attending the event to register on the website. The event is limited to 180 guests for the entire night.
