DNR shares update on moose population and aerial survey cancellation
The aerial moose survey conducted each January by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has been canceled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
DNR biologists and helicopter crews who participate in the annual survey work in tight proximity during the survey. Indeed, social distancing would be nearly impossible given the nature of the work involved with the moose survey.
WTIP’s Rhonda Silence spoke with DNR moose researcher Glenn DelGiudice about the cancellation of the 2021 aerial moose survey and the current status of the moose population in northeastern Minnesota.
