Local artist Christine Novotny will show a new body of work as the culmination of her Minnesota State Arts Board grant on Tuesday, June 24, from 5 to 7 pm at the Community Center Log Cabin. These new weavings were created with yarn spun from Minnesota fleeces, dyed by hand, and woven into knotted pile textiles (ryas, in Swedish) that use color to create movement and dimension.
Dancers Margaret Johnson and Steph Vos will bring the weavings to life at 6 pm, using physical movement to illustrate the movement in the imagery and to enliven the textiles through physical motion.
