Update: Cook County Search and Rescue locates missing man on Gunflint Trail

Jerry Peterson, who was reported missing Tuesday from his home on the shores of Mayhew Lake, was found in a remote area of the Gunflint Trail around 11:30 a.m. yesterday.

After an hours-long search, he was brought out by Cook County Search and Rescue. He was transported to the local hospital in Grand Marais for medical evaluation as a precaution.

Peterson was reported missing from his home in the mid-trail area of the Gunflint Trail on Monday, May 23.

Members of Cook County Search and Rescue, sheriff deputies and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation officers were involved in the search near and along the Gunflint Trail yesterday.
