Alpine Ski Team win section meet, advance to state

The Cook County Alpine Ski boys team will compete in next week’s state meet.

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, the boy’s alpine ski team competed in the Section 7A Alpine Race held at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik. The boy’s team skied away with a win, advancing the team to the state meet.

“The boys had a great outcome,” John Oberholtzer, the alpine ski coach, said. “As a team, they won the race out of 20 teams!”

Goshi Dimitrov placed first, Graham Oberholtzer placed second, Hans Mehlhaff placed fifth, and Senior Captain Finn Taylor placed seventh. The Cook County Boys Alpine Ski team competed against 103 other racers. Full race results are available here.

The team will now head to the state meet at Giant’s Ridge on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
