Arrowhead Coop board elections near: get to know the candidates

On June 12, Arrowhead Cooperative will hold their annual meeting. The meeting will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. Members are welcome to attend to get updates on the utility company from Arrowhead leadership.

In addition to hearing announcements and plans, members will also be voting candidates running for three seats on the Board of Directors. This year, districts 3, 6, and 7 are on the ballot. All three current directors are running unopposed for reelection. Unlike many other election systems, while the candidates come from different geographical districts, members can vote for any or all of the board candidates.

The ballots will be part of the annual report mailing that goes out to members in May. Members can return ballots at the event on June 12, or they can return their ballots to Arrowhead Cooperative at 5401 West Highway 61 in Lutsen by 1:00 p.m. on that day.

WTIP reached out to Matt Schuerger (District 3), Sharon Hexum-Platzer (District 6) and Don McKeever (District 7) to hear the candidates speak about what they have learned from their time on the board, and what direction they hope to take Arrowhead during their next term.

Below are conversations with Schuerger and Hexum-Platzer. McKeever has expressed an interest in speaking with WTIP, but due to scheduling issues, that interview has not yet taken place.
