Celestial Pathways Animal Healing Center opens in Grand Marais

Three Grand Marais animal care practitioners are joining forces to create a new business dedicated to the health and well-being of animals.

Celestial Pathways Animal Healing Center, located in Birch Alley, formerly known as the Birchbark Gifts Building in downtown Grand Marais, is now accepting four-legged clients in need of acupuncture, chiropractic care, healing touch, and various other holistic treatments.

The business is a collaboration of Karina Roth, Mari LaMoore, and Mindy Bichel, each bringing their professional expertise to the table.

Bichel is certified in animal chiropractic and has nearly 15 years working as a chiropractor on humans. She provides services to dogs, cats, horses, and the occasional sheep.

LaMoore is a local veterinarian at Lake County Veterinary Clinic and is certified in chiropractic for animals. She is also training in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine and acupuncture, which she will be primarily offering at Celestial Pathways.

Roth is certified in healing touch for animals and specializes in this modality. She said she comes from more of the “emotional side of the animal’s experience” and offers a holistic approach to communication and energy.

The animal healing center isn’t a substitute or replacement for traditional veterinary care. Instead, the three business owners said the healing center is designed to complement veterinary care by offering specialized services that support an animal’s overall well-being.

LaMoore said that examples of conditions the healing center would be able to treat include general pain, weakness, lethargy, allergies, musculoskeletal disorders, neurologic disorders, gastrointestinal problems, respiratory problems such as asthma, and skin irritation, among others.

The new location in Birch Alley will provide a calm and quiet environment where animals—primarily dogs, cats, and other small pets—can receive care. For larger animals, such as horses, goats, sheep, and other livestock, Bichel is also available to provide on-site services at the pet owner’s property.

To celebrate the launch of its new business, Celestial Pathways is hosting an open house on Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Individuals and their dogs are invited to attend, where they can explore the new space and ask questions about the various therapies offered.

“We’re going to have snacks for people and dogs,” LaMoore said.

WTIP’s Kalli Hawkins sat down with Karina Roth, Mari LaMoore, and Mindy Bichel to learn about Celestial Pathways Animal Healing Center, including the inspiration behind the business, the dynamics of acupuncture, chiropractic, and healing touch for animals, and details about the upcoming open house.
