Cook County HRA announces hiring of new executive director

The Cook County Housing Redevelopment Authority announced through a press release on Feb. 4 that they have hired a new executive director. Jeff Brand will begin in the role on Feb. 24.

Brand is in line to replace Jason Hale, the HRA’s first executive director, who resigned at the end of last year, but agreed to serve as interim director through January. That extension was in part in order to help with the search for his replacement. Brand has experience in local and state government. This has included serving as a city councilor for the City of St. Peter, Minn., where he currently lives, and serving as State Representative for District 18A in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

The press release quoted Brand when he accepted the position as saying, “I’m excited to help write the next chapter of this organization by creating more safe, stable, and attainable housing opportunities for current and future residents.”

Brand was part of a public interview process conducted by the HRA. Video of his interview is available on the county website.
