Be Extraordinary, Be You - For Parents & Community Members

Cook County Higher Education, in partnership with Cook County Public Health, ISD 166, and GES, is hosting Be Extraordinary, Be You for parents and community members on Thursday, April 10, with a dinner from 5-6 pm and a presentation from 6-7 pm. The event is an opportunity to learn about the impact of cannabis on adolescent brain development, ask questions, gain insights, and prepare for meaningful conversations with the young people in your life.

Modern Dance Drop In Classes

Modern Dance Drop-in Classes will be held from 5:30 to 7 pm on Thursdays in March and April at the Community Center Log Cabin. Ages 12 to adult and all experience levels and abilities are welcome. A rotating cast of teachers – Margaret E Johnson, Rachel Clark, Lenna Stever Sobanja, and Steph Vos will lead the classes. More information is available by email – humanpracticesomatics@gmail.com.

Timber! Tales of Lumberjacks, Settlers, and Lumber Barons in Northern Minnesota with Author Susan Hawkinson

The Grand Marais Public Library hosts Timber! Tales of Lumberjacks, Settlers, and Lumber Barons in Northern Minnesota, a history presentation by local author Susan Hawkinson on Friday, April 11, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Dappled Fern Fibers hosts a Saturday Fiber Circle from 10 to 11:30 am. Knitting, crocheting, spinning darning, embroidery, cross stitching, and all other fiber arts are welcome.

Grand Marais Film Society - April Screening

The Grand Marais Film Society will show a film about art’s redemptive power on Saturday, April 12 at 5 pm at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. This screening features a theater group, a cast of formerly imprisoned men, and was nominated for best actor. More information is available in the Grand Marais Film Society Facebook group.
