More Events: Visit Cook County
Minnesota author Tom Toftey will share insights into his latest project, building on the reflections of his father, Ade Toftey, on Saturday, July 18, from 2 to 4 pm at the Cook County History Museum. Ade was a significant figure in local history, known for his involvement with the Cook County Historical Society, his role as editor of the Cook County News Herald, and his long-standing “Remember When” column.
The event is part of the Cook County Historical Society 2026 Speaker Series.
Chik-Wauk Nature Center hosts Jo Swanson for a presentation, Many Hands, One Forest: Caring for the Superior National Forest, on Sunday, June 19, from 2 to 3 pm. Jo is the Executive Director of the nonprofit Friends of the Superior National Forest.

Care Partners of Cook County hosts a reframe aging monthly roundtable on the third Monday of each month from 12:15 to 1:45 pm at The Hub. A specially-selected book of the month serves as a springboard for the discussion. More information is available at carepartnersofcookcounty.org.
Weekly nature presentations are held on the front porch of Chik-Wauk Museum (in case of inclement weather, the presentations will be held indoors at the Nature Center) on Mondays at 1 pm. All are welcome.

The Tofte, Lutsen, Schroeder Summer Blood Drive will be held on Monday, July 20, from 2 to 6 pm at Zoar Church in Tofte. Appointments are required. They can be made on the Memorial Blood Centers website or by calling Terri at 651-398-7838.
Care Partners of Cook County is hosting a grief group on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Care Partners office from 5 to 6:30 pm. Care Partners Executive Director Julie Wilson will facilitate the gatherings. No registration is required. More information at carepartnersofcookcounty.org.

The Saving Lives for Payton Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, July 22 and 23. The Memorial Blood Centers bus will be parked at Mike’s Circle K in Grand Marais.

The Gunflint Trail Scenic Byway Committee and the Cook County Invasives Team are hosting Pull, Plant, Protect the Gunflint Trail on Wednesday, July 22. Volunteers meet at the Seagull Lake Community Center for an info session and treats at 1 pm.
